The article presents the issues concerning the transformation of the national distribution network. The energy
transformation process in the area of distribution networks is discussed. Challenges concerning the national distribution
network were presented. Investment activities of distribution system operators in the area of the national distribution network
and their benefits were discussed. Risks to the transformation process of the national distribution network are presented.
Conclusions on the effective transformation of the national distribution network in the context of the necessary investment
